The Slip

Rock and Ride

Take your iPod and bicycle on the road in comfort and safety with the Slipstreamz Slip. The Slip clips onto your bicycle helmet and covers your ears to deflect wind turbulence, greatly reducing irritating wind noise that can damage hearing over time. The Slip also helps keep your ears warm on cool days.

As a result of the wind deflection away from the ears, the Slip enhances riders' ability to hear traffic sounds, increasing their awareness of events surrounding them. The Slip is designed to hold iPod ear buds within the slip and out of riders' ear canals. The Slip provides cyclists with the safest way to ride your bike with or without an iPod.

Features:

  • Deflects irritating and damaging wind from ears.
  • Easily attaches to bike helmets.
  • Listen to music safely and comfortably while not blocking out traffic sounds.
  • Increases awareness of surroundings.
  • Helps keeps ears warm on cold days
  • May be used with or without an iPod.

Specifications:

  • The Slip is made of comfortable, lightweight polyurethane visco-elastic memory foam and has a durable integral skin.
  • The attachment clip is made of flexible polypropylene plastic.
  • The cover is made of polyurethane foam, sandwiched between layers of polyester mesh and heat-molded into an aerodynamic shape.

I was a bit unsure of this products as it looks complicated. I was happy to find it easy to understand and use. On the road, it really showed its value. I was able to hear my music with no loss, I loved that the earbuds were outside my ear, and the wind noise was heavily reduced! Even on really windy days, it cuts the noise down to an afterthought. And like they said in their marketing blurb, hearing less wind has a positive psychological effect of not feeling like you're fighting the elements. I love this product. Thanks Slipstreamz!! Rockin' Rusty

Not Perfect but They Help

Some of the reviews mentioned noise. You have to fiddle with the things to get them to lay against your head to cut the noise. I wear hearing aids. Without the Slips, I cannot wear the aids while biking, a real hazard. They cut wind noise to the point I can wear the aids, so to that point they are helpful. I haven't noticed a heat problem as stated in another review. I have worn mine in quite warm temperatures and haven't noticed they made my ears too warm. Not perfect but I have found nothing that works better.

Works great - I could listen to my music while still hearing ambient noise around me. They don't totally block the wind, but I think that is because the wind is not always coming directly at you. Would recommend to other cyclists!

The Slip makes my commute a lot more fun. It reduces wind noise by quite a bit, and on cold days keeps your ears warm. It holds the earbuds near but not *in* your ear, so you can still hear everything going on around you. Just turn up the bass to make it sound more normal. Installation was pretty easy. The first time you attach them to the straps, don't lock all the clips until you have a chance to adjust them to your ear height. Don't expect miracles - the wind reduction isn't 100%, especially on days when there's already some wind coming from any direction other than straight ahead. But I'd say it usually cuts the noise by about 80%, and at this point I wouldn't ride without them.

OK, but not a keeper

Instructions are too vague and need more accurate pictures. Earcovers too warm even on a 50 degree day--hate to think of wearing them on a 90 degree day. Cut down on wind noise a bit, but not much. With helmet straps adjusted properly for _safety_ (that's why we wear them, right?) the Slip puts the earpiece too high. So it didn't improve my ability to hear my MP3 player significantly. I'll probably give these to a friend with hearing aids.
